As you may be aware, Lindisfarne Castle was closed throughout 2017, shrouded in scaffolding, whilst a team of conservationists have been carrying out major renovation and repair works to this historical and wonderful Northumberland icon.
The latest news is the renovation project is now entering its final phase, with the temporary roof having been removed from the scaffolding at the end of January. We got a surprise the other day when returning from our Edinburgh break away to find the castle was devoid of its `hat’!
The castle will reopen on 1st April. ALWAYS check the tide times before planning to visit Holy Island as the castle can only be reached by crossing the causeway at low tide.
