`Flaming June’ is now upon us, with light nights until after 9 pm, the opportunity to sit out in the garden and to finally make a start on those outside jobs which got put to the bottom of the pile during the winter.
We also like to venture out and take a break from our daily busy schedule when the time allows, so seeing there was to be a Vintage Motorcycle Run starting and finishing at Etal, we decided to go along and see for ourselves. We also caught glimpses of them coming past Post Office House, where we had a great view from our living room window! The sounds of parallel twin and single cylinder engines were a fantastic sound and a reminder of proper motoring days gone by.
The `Bamburgh Bike Run’ run was organised by the VMCC Reivers with the event’s starting point being at Etal and finishing there. There was all types of wonderful old bikes, many pre-1950’s with makers from Rudge to Brough Superior, BSA to Triumph. They all took pride of place in front of the newly re-opened Black Bull pub with its characteristic thatched roof (the only thatched roof pub in Northumberland) – a lovely quintessentially English backdrop!
The riders had a wonderful day weather wise and here are a couple of pictures we took.
